Privacy Policy

What Sabad collects, why we need it, who helps us process it, and how to have it deleted.

This policy covers the Sabad app for Android and iOS and the website at sabad.app. "Sabad", "we" and "us" mean the team that runs them. Questions about this policy go to support@sabad.app.

The short version

  • You can use Sabad without signing up. If you sign in, we keep your email address so your lists follow you to other devices.
  • Your lists are stored on our servers so they sync between your devices and the people you share them with.
  • We ask for your location only to find stores that deliver to you, and your microphone only when you tap the mic button.
  • We don't sell your data and there are no ads in Sabad.
  • You can turn off usage analytics in Settings, and you can ask us to delete your account at any time.

What we collect

Your account

When you first open the app, Sabad creates a guest account with a random ID, so your lists can be saved and synced. If you sign in, we also keep:

  • your email address, if you sign in with a one-time code sent by email, or
  • the name and email address of your Google account, if you sign in with Google;
  • the display name and avatar you choose.

Your lists and orders

We store your lists, the items on them (name, amount, category), who added or bought each item, the members of each shared list and the invites you create. When you use the shopping plan, we keep a record of what you marked as bought, from which store and at what price, so it shows in your order history. Lists are also kept on your phone so they work offline.

Location

When you open the shopping plan or the offers near you, Sabad asks for your location. We request an approximate position, and only while you are using those screens. It is sent to us and to the shopping platforms (see below) to find stores that deliver to you, their prices, delivery fees and times. We don't save your location to your account or keep a history of it. If you deny the permission, you can pick your area on a map instead.

Voice input

The microphone is used only when you tap the mic button, and the app shows a notice before your first recording. Your recording (at most 60 seconds) is uploaded to private storage, turned into text by a speech-recognition provider, and then into grocery items by an AI language model. We keep recordings and their transcripts to improve speech recognition, which can include training models. They are never made public. Don't use voice input if you don't want this; typing works just as well.

Recipes you share with Sabad

When you share a post or web page with Sabad, we receive the link. Our servers fetch the public content of that post (caption, subtitles, image and public counts such as likes and views) and an AI language model turns it into a recipe. Each link is processed once and the result is reused for anyone who shares the same link. Imported recipes can be opened by anyone who has their link, but they don't appear in search or the Discover feed unless we choose to publish them. We record which account imported a recipe.

Device and notifications

To send you notifications (for example, when someone adds to a shared list or invites you to one), we store your device's push token together with its platform, app version and language.

Usage analytics

Sabad uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used and where people get stuck: screens viewed, buttons used, and similar events, linked to your Sabad account ID. We don't send names, email addresses, list names or item names to analytics; the only free text we send is what you type into recipe search. We don't collect your advertising ID. You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings › Share usage analytics.

Website analytics

sabad.app uses Google Analytics to understand which pages people read and how many visitors go from the website to the app stores: the pages you open and the buttons you tap, such as a store link. No Sabad account data is sent. Visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are counted without cookies.

Technical data

Like every online service, our servers record IP addresses and request details. We use them for security, to enforce usage limits and to fix problems.

How we use it

We use this information to run Sabad's features, sync your lists, send notifications, prevent abuse, answer your messages, and improve the app, including its speech recognition. We don't sell personal data and we don't use it for advertising.

Shopping platforms

Sabad compares prices across online grocery platforms. Your searches, with your approximate location, are sent from your phone to those platforms to get their prices. When you open a store's cart from your shopping plan, you finish the order on that store's own website inside the app: signing in, payment and delivery are handled by that store under its own privacy policy. Sabad doesn't receive your payment details. Sabad is independent and isn't affiliated with these platforms.

Who else can see your data

  • People you share a list with see the list, your display name, your avatar and the items you add or buy.
  • Anyone with a recipe link can open that recipe.
  • We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect Sabad and its users from fraud or abuse.

How long we keep it

We keep your account, lists and order history until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Voice recordings and transcripts are kept until you ask us to delete them. Imported recipes are kept so the same link doesn't have to be processed again. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting.

Your choices

  • Deny location or microphone access; the rest of Sabad keeps working.
  • Turn off usage analytics in Settings.
  • Leave a shared list, or remove members from a list you own.
  • Sign out at any time.
  • Delete your account: email support@sabad.app from the address you sign in with, or include your account email. We delete your account, your lists and your voice recordings within 30 days. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it.

Security

Connections between the app and our servers are encrypted (HTTPS). Sign-in tokens are kept in your phone's secure storage, and voice recordings are kept in private storage that is not publicly reachable. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.

Children

Sabad is meant for households and isn't directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the app.
